How to Transfer Your Domain from Squarespace to Your Mastermind Business Hub Account

If your domain is registered with Squarespace (including domains that moved over from Google Domains), you can connect it to your Mastermind Business Hub by adding two DNS records in your Squarespace domains dashboard. The domain stays registered with Squarespace; you are only telling it where to send visitors.

Before you start

  • Decide whether this domain will keep serving a Squarespace website. A domain can only point to one place. If it is currently attached to a Squarespace site, the hub's records will replace that site for the root domain and www.

  • Log in to Squarespace in one tab and the hub in another.

  • Have a funnel or website ready in Funnels & Pages, or plan to pick one after connecting.

Step 1: Get the records from the hub

  1. In the hub, go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects.

  2. Click Connect a Domain.

  3. Choose what the domain will be used for, such as a funnel or website.

  4. Type your domain, for example yourdomain.com or www.yourdomain.com. If you enter the www version, accept the offer to add the root domain too so both work.

  5. Click Continue, then choose the option to add records manually. Keep this screen open. It shows an A record for the root domain (@) and a CNAME record for www, with the exact values to copy.

Step 2: Add the records in Squarespace

  1. In Squarespace, open your Domains dashboard (from the account home page, choose Domains).

  2. Click the domain you want to connect.

  3. Click DNS in the side panel, then look for the Custom records section.

  4. Click Add record and create each record using the values shown on the Connect a Domain screen:

    • Type A, Host @, Data: the value shown in the hub.

    • Type CNAME, Host www, Data: the value shown in the hub.

    • Leave TTL at the default.

  5. Squarespace may ask for your password or two-factor code before saving. Confirm it.

  6. Click Save after each record.

Step 3: Verify in the hub

  1. Go back to the hub's Connect a Domain screen and click Verify (or re-open the domain under Domains & URL Redirects).

  2. Once the status shows as connected, the hub issues the security certificate automatically. Open your domain in a new tab to confirm your funnel or website loads.

Troubleshooting

  • Conflicting records. Squarespace will not let you save a record that clashes with an existing one. Under Squarespace defaults (the preset A, AAAA, ALIAS and CNAME records that point to a Squarespace site), remove or disconnect the records for @ and www before adding the hub's values. Deleting these disconnects the domain from your Squarespace site, which is expected.

  • Forwarding rules. If the domain has a forwarding rule in Squarespace, remove it. Forwarding overrides your custom records.

  • AAAA records. An AAAA record for @ left over from Squarespace will stop the hub from verifying. Delete it.

  • Propagation. Squarespace says changes can take 24 to 48 hours, though it is usually much faster. If the hub still shows "Pending" after 24 hours, re-check every value against the Connect a Domain screen.

  • Email keeps working. Do not touch MX records. Only the A and CNAME records for @ and www change, so your email on this domain is unaffected.
