How to Transfer Your Domain from IONOS to Your Mastermind Business Hub Account

Written by Hub Support Team

If your domain is registered with IONOS, you can connect it to your Mastermind Business Hub by adding two DNS records in the IONOS control panel. The domain stays registered with IONOS; you are only pointing it at the hub so your funnels and websites load on your own web address.

Before you start

  • Confirm the domain uses IONOS's own nameservers. If you previously pointed it at another service, the DNS is managed there, and you should follow that provider's guide instead.

  • Log in to IONOS in one tab and the hub in another.

  • Have a funnel or website ready in Funnels & Pages, or plan to pick one after connecting.

Step 1: Get the records from the hub

  1. In the hub, go to Settings > Domains & URL Redirects.

  2. Click Connect a Domain.

  3. Choose what the domain will be used for, such as a funnel or website.

  4. Type your domain, for example yourdomain.com or www.yourdomain.com. If you enter the www version, accept the offer to add the root domain too so both work.

  5. Click Continue. If the hub shows an Authorize button for your domain, you can click it and approve the connection in the IONOS window that opens, then skip to Step 3. Otherwise choose the option to add records manually and keep this screen open. It shows an A record for the root domain (@) and a CNAME record for www, with the exact values to copy.

Step 2: Add the records in IONOS

  1. In IONOS, go to Domains & SSL from the menu.

  2. Click the gear icon next to your domain and choose DNS.

  3. Click Add Record and create each record using the values shown on the Connect a Domain screen:

    • Type A, Host name @, Points to: the value shown in the hub.

    • Type CNAME, Host name www, Points to: the value shown in the hub.

    • Leave TTL at the default.

  4. Click Save after each record.

Step 3: Verify in the hub

  1. Return to the hub's Connect a Domain screen and click Verify (or re-open the domain under Domains & URL Redirects).

  2. Once it shows as connected, the hub issues the security certificate automatically. Open your domain in a new tab to confirm your funnel or website loads.

Troubleshooting

  • Default IONOS records. IONOS creates A and AAAA records for @ and www on every new domain, pointing to its own parking or hosting. Edit the existing A records to the hub's values rather than adding duplicates, and delete the AAAA records for @ and www. A leftover AAAA record is the most common reason an IONOS domain stays "Pending".

  • Records marked as IONOS-managed. If a record is locked because it is used by an IONOS product (such as a website builder or hosting package), you must disconnect that product from the domain first under Domains & SSL > Use Domain.

  • Only one A record for @. Two A records for @ stop the hub from verifying.

  • Still "Pending". IONOS changes usually take under an hour but can take up to 24 hours. If it is still pending after that, re-check every value against the Connect a Domain screen.

  • Email keeps working. Leave MX records alone. Only the A and CNAME records for @ and www change.

Still stuck? Open the chat widget in the hub and our support team will help.
